Judge dismisses Oceanfront resident’s challenge to Virginia Beach curfew; new lawsuit filed

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — On Tuesday, a judge dismissed the case of Lisa Lawrence v. City of Virginia Beach, a lawsuit that questioned the legality and impact of the city’s curfew.

Lawrence, an Oceanfront resident who lives on Atlantic Avenue just a few hundred feet from the affected curfew zone, argued that the restrictions made typical weekend activities — such as walking on the beach — impossible. She also said the curfew caused anxiety due to fear of being arrested near her home.
