A man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Tuesday evening in what is believed to be Evanston’s first shooting in nearly a year.
Evanston Police Commander Chelsea Brown said that police responded to a call of shots fired on the 700 block of Howard Street at 6:08 p.m. She added that “responding officers located an adult male victim in the area with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.”
Scanner traffic from the Evanston Fire Department indicated the victim was located near the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Greenleaf Street, near Nichols Middle School — approximately 1.7 miles from the 700 block of Howard Street.
