Kitchen 216
Located at 161 Washington Ave Ext in Crossgates Commons is Kitchen 216, a Soul Food restaurant that prides themselves with bringing a taste of the south up north. They opened their doors in 2018 after the owner, Emrys Young’s home cooking went viral in Albany.
Young learned from her grandmother, and brought those lessons with her from Florida, where she opened her restaurant, and practically became an overnight sensation. They’ve remained busy since their opening, but some unexpected news have forced them to close their doors.
Closing, but Not for Good
On April 20th, the staff announced that they would be closing their doors, and for good reason. Young is expecting a child, and wants to take time off to grow her family, while also making adjustments to the restaurant she loves so much.

The return date is not set yet, but they’ve said that in the time away, Kitchen 216 will transition from a “Grab-and-Go” place to a sit-down bar restaurant. It’ll still keep the same homestyle cooking you know and love, just with a different look…
