Jelly Roll Opens Up About Weight Loss Challenges Ahead of Controversial Rock the Country Tour

Country artist Jelly Roll, 41, has candidly discussed the hurdles he’s encountered on his weight loss journey as he prepares to join the upcoming Rock the Country music festival. The tour, headlined by Kid Rock and Jason Aldean, has sparked controversy due to its strong associations with the MAGA movement and support for former President Donald Trump.

Earlier this year, Jelly Roll suffered a broken collarbone, which temporarily stalled his highly publicized efforts to shed pounds. “I said all that to say, I have, to some degree, lost my way,” he admitted, revealing that he remains 40 to 60 pounds shy of his target weight. His wife, Bunnie Xo, has shared that the country star was deeply affected by online criticism related to his weight.

Once tipping the scales at 540 pounds, Jelly Roll has impressively slimmed down to around 265 pounds but still has ambitions to push further. He envisions gracing the cover of major publications such as GQ, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Forbes, or TIME-shirtless-highlighting his remarkable transformation. “There’s this story where a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt-off picture,” he reflected.

The Rock the Country tour will span several cities, though Jelly Roll will not perform at the Sioux Falls, South Dakota stop, where the band Staind will fill in for him. The festival positions itself as a tribute to American community and tradition, celebrating 250 years of the nation’s spirit.

However, its political undertones are clear, given Kid Rock and Jason Aldean’s outspoken support for conservative causes. Kid Rock notably performed at Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” an alternative to the official Super Bowl halftime event.

While Jelly Roll has described himself as a “dumb redneck” and expressed reluctance to weigh in on political matters, a recent photo surfaced showing him with former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who praised him for having an “incredible” heart.

The Rock the Country lineup also includes country stars Blake Shelton, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Notably, rock band Shinedown and rapper Ludacris have withdrawn from the event, with Shinedown emphasizing their commitment to unity over division, and Ludacris’s representative clarifying that his initial inclusion was a mistake.

In response to rising fuel prices, organizers announced a mid-April ticket discount, offering up to 50% off general admission for select small-town tour stops. “Take advantage of this offer, fill up your tank and we’ll see you this summer!” the festival’s statement encouraged.

As Jelly Roll continues his personal transformation and tour preparations, fans will watch closely to see how both his journey and the event unfold.
