PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Helena Foulkes continues to hold a double-digit lead over incumbent Dan McKee in the Democratic primary for governor, according to a new poll released by an education advocacy group.
The survey, commissioned by an affiliate of the Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools, finds Foulkes at 34% and McKee at 20% among primary voters, with 38% undecided. An additional 8% backed a lesser-known third candidate, Gregory Stevens.
The poll was the latest to give McKee a weak job approval rating among the broader electorate, with just 18% of Rhode Island voters rating his performance as excellent or good and 46% rating it as poor.
