Man dies after being taken into protective custody in Westminster, police say

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A man died shortly after he was taken into protective custody by Westminster officers early Wednesday morning, according to a release from the police department.

The release says officers responded to a call from family members of the 23-year-old man who reported that he was “in crisis.”

When officers arrived at the home, they located a man who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. According to the release, the man also had access to “harmful substances.” The release does not provide any details about those substances…
