CLEVELAND, Ohio – Danny Basone has seen a lot from his downtown Akron vantage over more than 20 years.
Lockview, his comfortable, unpretentious spot along S. Main Street in downtown Akron, has served up grilled cheese sandwiches speared with mini umbrellas, a voluminous array of some hard-to-find craft beers and great wine-by-the-glass pours. Now, he’s facing multi-pronged challenges: What seems like nonstop downtown Akron construction, rising costs – food and fuel – and the potential loss of his liquor license due to unpaid back taxes he’s trying to catch up on.
When county offices in the nearby Ohio Building relocated its employees for temporary renovation last August, that hurt Lockview’s business as well, Basone said…
