LANSING, MI – “Medical neglect is a crime” and “mold is a death sentence” read the signs propped up in front of advocates who begged Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to grant clemency to an incarcerated mother of four.
Krystal Clark, 41, is currently incarcerated at Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Washtenaw County. It is the only correctional facility in the state that houses women.
Several advocacy groups and state lawmakers are now seeking medical clemency for Clark, after they say mold began growing inside both her ears and her lungs several years ago…
