The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will conduct prescribed burns across 521 acres in the Lower Peninsula today, targeting areas in Charlevoix, Huron, Ogemaw and Washtenaw counties.
Highly trained DNR personnel will carry out the burns in designated state-managed areas as part of the agency’s forest and land health management strategy. The controlled fires help maintain ecosystem health across Michigan’s public lands.
