ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) – Crews tear down the former Goldie Floberg Center in Rockton, preparing the property for future development.
In 2023, the nonprofit organization donated its old facility at 58 W. Rockton Road to the village, after moving to Rockford. While the village considered several options, Mayor John Peterson said the building needed many repairs that would be too costly.
The village worked with the Winnebago County Housing Authority to try to turn it into senior housing, but that deal fell through.
Earlier this year, Wesley Willows stepped forward and purchased the property from the village for $400,000. Peterson says Wesley Willows hopes to build a senior housing facility on the site and possibly expand into independent living homes…
