Five-star quarterback Will Mencl announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks on Wednesday. The Chandler, Arizona native chose Oregon over the Auburn Tigers and Penn State Nittany Lions, announcing his decision on the Rivals YouTube channel.
Mencl, a 6-foot-3, 200–205-pound dual-threat quarterback from Chandler High School, is one of the top prospects in the 2027 cycle. He is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback nationally by Rivals and On3, while 247Sports lists him as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 89 overall player. Rivals also ranks him as the No. 13 overall recruit.
In his junior season, Mencl completed over 70% of his passes (70.3%) for 3,815 yards, 33 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, in addition to 741 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 118 carries. He accounted for 50 touchdowns and led Chandler to a 10-3 record and a state title game appearance.
