DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – The intersection of County Road 13 and Milton Jones Road will close for three months starting May 4 as contractors complete work on a new roundabout.
The traffic circle is part of a larger plan to connect Pollard Road to Highway 181, creating a new east-west corridor to relieve pressure on County Road 64. New schools and neighborhoods in eastern Daphne have brought more traffic to the area.
“It’s a county and city project together because that area is still county and so, this is something we desperately need to help take pressure off of 64,” Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune said. “Add another east-west corridor, so this will go from 181, Milton Jones all the way to Friendship, is the new section and there’s already a connection from Friendship to Pollard.”
