NEW MADRID, Mo. (KFVS) – Many people reported feeling movement today in areas of the Heartland. It was all caused by an earthquake in Permiscot County.
Jeff Grunwald, the administrator of the New Madrid Historical Museum, says today was only the second time a magnitude 4 earthquake has hit the Show-Me state since 1991.
The epicenter was located just outside of Cooter, Missouri, about 7 miles underground. It happened just before 1 p.m., and reports of it being felt as far as Evansville, Indiana.
