SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk officials are notifying residents about a potential data breach of the city’s network. It happened on February 25, 2026, when the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) notified the city of a malicious hacker who may have infiltrated the system.
Cybersecurity experts immediately investigated the incident and took the proper safety measures, preventing the hacker from deploying ransomware. Officials say it is possible that full names or first initial and last names, along with personally identifiable information, may have been seen or accessed beforehand, however.
Officials say the attack has been reported to the FBI’s Cyber Division and the Virginia Fusion Center, and they remain committed to supporting law enforcement investigations…
