REPUBLIC, Mo. — A house fire in Republic, Missouri, early Friday morning was caused by a lightning strike, according to the fire chief.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on East New Madrid Drive around 6:25 a.m., where they found a fire primarily contained to the roof of the home.
Fire officials say the blaze was sparked after lightning struck the home’s roof during early morning storms.
No injuries were reported, and the homeowner was able to safely get out of the house. Officials say the fire did not spread significantly beyond the roof area…
