Road work, events impacting East Tennessee drivers this weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — From events increasing traffic to road work to expect, 6 News anchor Bo Williams has what drivers need to know about before hitting the roads this weekend.

In Downtown Knoxville, drivers may notice increased traffic during the Dogwood Arts Festival happening in World’s Fair Park April 24-26. For those planning to attend the festival, Dogwood Arts shared that there are more nearly 3,500 parking spots within a half mile of the event.

Earlier this week, the Tennessee Department of Transportation shared that it will be resurfacing three miles of I-275 between the intersection of I-40 and I-640 over the next few months. During that project, some lanes of traffic will be closed intermittently. TDOT said it planned for most of the work to happen Sunday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Down in Sevier County, the City of Gatlinburg shared that it had rescheduled the resurfacing project for the Parkway that was expected to begin on April 26 to instead begin on May 3…
