Prepare for strong thunderstorms in Alabama early Saturday morning – gusts may reach 40 mph

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 4:54 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 5:45 a.m. for Choctaw, Washington and Clarke counties.

Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 4:54 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles southeast of Crandall to 9 miles east of Brooklyn. Movement was east at 30 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
