Sheriff’s Office wants consultant to look at its staffing, operations

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says they have been sounding “the alarm regarding budget and staffing challenges” since Sheriff Oscar Ugarte took over.

The Sheriff’s Office is now requesting that the County authorize a “qualified, independent third-party consultant to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the Sheriff’s Office.”

The review would look at staffing levels, workload analysis, overtime, detention operations, specialized unit demands, overall resource allocation, equipment as well as vehicles, the motor pool, fleet services and facilities, the Sheriff’s Office said…
