Update: CHP reports 1 dead, 1 with major injuries in I-5 crash near Newman

A man was killed and a woman seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday on I-5 north of Stuhr Road near Newman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 44-year-old man was driving north when, for unknown reasons, he made a left turn, causing his 2004 Ford SUV to overturn into the center divide, Modesto CHP Officer Aaron Fay said. It was not known how fast the vehicle was going, or what lane it was in.
