One person died in a vehicle accident on I-26 in South Carolina.

A tragic road accident in South Carolina has once again highlighted the dangers of wrong-way driving. Early Friday morning, a deadly crash on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County claimed the life of a transit van driver and left another person injured. The incident took place in the quiet hours before dawn, shocking local residents and raising concerns about road safety.

What Happened on Interstate 26

According to officials from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Friday. The location was the westbound side of Interstate 26, close to mile marker 9 near Inman, a small town in Spartanburg County.

Initial reports suggest that a tractor-trailer was moving in the correct westbound direction when suddenly a transit van appeared, travelling in the opposite direction on the same lane. This means the van was going the wrong way in the westbound lanes, which is extremely dangerous, especially on highways where vehicles move at high speed.

The two vehicles crashed head-on, leading to severe damage and tragic consequences.
