WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach Zoo unveiled its redesigned koala habitat Saturday, giving its famously chill residents more room indoors and out.
The renovated space gives the koalas expanded opportunities to move between a climate-controlled indoor forest and a newly built outdoor area, encouraging exercise, exploration, and more natural behavior, according to Palm Beach Zoo officials. Visitors will continue to have clear views of the animals as they lounge, feed on eucalyptus leaves, and rest between naps.
Zoo officials say every detail of the indoor forest was intentionally designed using earleaf acacias. While the trees are considered an invasive species in Florida, the zoo’s design team determined they could serve a beneficial role in supporting koala enrichment and movement…
