Parole board approves release for man convicted in 2004 Brockton murder

The Massachusetts Parole Board approved the release of a man convicted of a 2004 murder in Brockton, a decision made possible following a court ruling that changed how the state sentences young adults.

Lewis Franklin, 39, was granted parole on March 24 after resentencing under the 2024 Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision known as Commonwealth v. Mattis.
