Storm Center PM Update: Soggy Start to the Week; Gradually Warmer

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Though we got off to a quiet start this morning, we’ve seen rain move in over the course of the afternoon with a few storms embedded into the mix. With that said, it was a rather cool day across the board.

We’ll continue to watch as rain and a few storms build into KELOLAND from south to north. Some of the storms may be strong to severe, especially south of I-90.

A “Marginal Risk” for severe weather is in place for southeastern South Dakota near/south of Sioux Falls and into NW Iowa. Gusty winds and hail are the main concerns.

Rain and wind will stick around into the day on Monday, with rain and snow showers possible out west and into the Black Hills. Though it’s a soggy start to the week, it’s a welcome sight all the same with how bad the drought has become lately for the southern half of the region.

We’ll get a break to the east on Tuesday, while areas to the west see a few more rain showers with a weak disturbance moving through. Some isolated showers are possible on Wednesday to the east, but coverage will likely be sparse.

The rest of the work and school week is pleasant and progressively milder as we close April on Thursday and welcome in the month of May on Friday. The first weekend of the month is a bit of a 50/50 split, as Sunday features a bit of rain compared to a mainly dry Saturday.
