DeKalb crews respond overnight to five fires in same neighborhood; officials believe they were set intentionally

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Crews responded early Monday morning to multiple fires in the same area around DeKalb County, with officials believing they were intentionally set.

There’s no word yet as of 7 a.m. on a possible suspect. 11Alive’s Sefenech Henok was out near James R. Hallford Stadium, where one of the fires was set and which reignited at one point.

At least five fire responses in all were reported:

  • Two in the area of Hallford Stadium, one of those specifically at the intersection of Memorial College Avenue & Parklane Drive
  • One behind the Al-Momineen Mosque on North Indian Creek Drive
  • Two at nearby apartment complexes

Scanner chatter indicated crews were still actively working one of the fires after 7 a.m…
