Iconic Hollywood Arby’s sign re-emerges in Southern California desert

It was an iconic and beloved sign along Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard for nearly six decades before it quietly vanished last year. Now, Arby’s neon 10-gallon cowboy hat sign has reemerged in the rugged desert grounds of the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in the Coachella Valley.

The sign towered over 5920 W. Sunset Blvd., several blocks west of the 101 Freeway, for 56 years, and its fate had remained murky until this weekend.

The sign’s removal was not unexpected. It was on borrowed time after the owner of the Arby’s franchise went out of business in 2024…
