Timing: Severe storms possible in Cincinnati area with heavy rain, tornado risk

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Storms are expected to arrive earlier than previously forecast, bringing a heightened risk of damaging winds and heavy rain during a narrow window Monday evening.

The primary threat is expected between 6 p.m. and midnight, with storms possibly beginning as early as 6 p.m. in Indiana and reaching the Cincinnati area around 8 to 9 p.m. Strong to severe storms could continue through midnight.

Damaging winds and heavy rain are the main concerns, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially west of Interstate 75. The greatest risk is expected to remain west of the region as storms weaken while moving east.

Rainfall totals are expected to average about 1 inch, with isolated areas receiving up to 2 inches, though some locations may see less.
