Upstate father, Lyft driver released from hospital after stabbing incident

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An Upstate father who deputies say was stabbed in the head multiple times while driving for a rideshare company is home from the hospital.

Sergii Savchenko was the victim of a stabbing that took place on April 22. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said Savchenko was stabbed after he picked up a woman who requested a ride from the Lakecrest Apartments on East North Street.

Sergii Savchenko’s daughter Anastasiia said her father drives for both Uber and Lyft. He was driving for Lyft at the time of the incident.

“He just is doing his job and he picked her up,” Sergii’s daughter said during the suspect’s bond hearing. “He said, ‘hello how are you?’. He doesn’t really speak English so that was another issue and then he started driving and once they were on East North Street he told me that he got stabbed. She was sitting in the back and he got stabbed from the back.”…
