Corrections officer, jail employee resign after separate Horry County arrests

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A corrections officer and a jail employee at the Horry County Sheriff’s Office resigned after being arrested in separate cases.

Brennan Cavanagh of the Horry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that corrections officer Taquan Reeves and J. Reuben Long Detention Center employee Carla Brown resigned after both were arrested. Cavanagh added that both resigned on the same day the charges were filed.

Reeves was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on April 13 on second-degree domestic violence charges and released the next day on a $5,000 bond, jail records show.

Brown was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a third-degree domestic violence charge on April 14 and released the same day on a $1,500 bond, according to the records…
