Mercy Health Glass City Marathon participant suffers medical emergency at the finish line

TOLEDO, Ohio — A medical emergency sent a runner to the hospital Sunday morning after the participant collapsed at the finish line during the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon in west Toledo.

The runner fell unconscious around 8:30 a.m. after completing the race. A medical team at the finish line responded immediately. While covering the event, WTOL 11 noticed medical professionals performing chest compressions on the runner. An ambulance arrived shortly afterward and transported the participant to a nearby hospital.
