SAN DIEGO — UC San Diego Health is now the first health system on the West Coast to perform spinal fusion surgery using a new artificial intelligence robotic platform that combines AI, advanced imaging and robotics in a single system.
Joseph Osorio, MD, PhD, chief of spine surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UC San Diego Health, is leading the effort. The first case in the world was performed last week, and UC San Diego Health has completed a handful of procedures since.
