ROCHELLE, Ill. (WIFR) – Applause erupted from the chambers Monday night as Rochelle City Council voted unanimously against a proposal to build a data center.
The proposal to build a data center along Steward Drive was brought to the table by Midwest Power Investors LLC, in affiliation with New York-based real estate company LFF Industrial.
Its data center would have required at least 48 megawatts (MW) of power and — in later development phases — could have expanded to 150 MWs, which can power roughly 150,000 homes…
