2 Rockford area robotics teams are headed to the world championships

ROCKTON — Two high school robotics teams are headed to Houston this week for a four-day championship event that brings together the best competition from around the world.

Stateline Robotics, the team representing Hononegah High School, and Winnovation, which brings together students from Winnebago and Pecatonica, are both headed to Texas to compete among 600 teams in FIRST robotics biggest event.

“Teams from all over the world: China, Israel, Taiwan, Brazil — so many different countries come and compete,” said Cora Whiteman, a senior at Hononegah and the business lead for Stateline Robotics. “It’s a great experience for our team to be able to talk with all those other teams, see how everyone approaches the same problem differently, and have that experience all the way down in Houston.”…
