I’ve lived in the Rockford area for over 40 years, and I can’t count how many times I’ve driven by this space at the intersection of Business 20 and Shaw Rd. in Belvidere.
I remember when this land was home to Hickory Knolls Golf Center and it being filled with families playing mini golf on a beautiful summer day. As a kid, I always wanted to stop there, but in the last handful of years the space has become badly overgrown…but not for long.
Twisted Roots Flower Farm Coming to Belvidere
For too many years the former Hickory Knolls Golf Center has been an eyesore, but this summer it’s transforming into something beautiful: Twisted Roots Flower Farm.

The Robertson family acquired the property in early April and has since been actively clearing debris and preparing the fields for cultivation. They aim to plant more than 20,000 flowers across the 20 acres of land.
Twisted Roots Flower Farm will not only offer family-grown flower bouquets for all occasions, but it will also feature a farm stand and pick-your-own flower experiences…
