Colonie town leaders assailed over cut to senior tranportation service

COLONIE — Town Democrats have lambasted Republican Town Supervisor Peter Crummey over the decision to cut the town’s funding to Colonie Senior Service Centers in the 2026 budget.

In a note published on social media Saturday, the town’s Democratic committee said the three Democratic lawmakers on the Town Board were unaware that funding had been reduced to zero in the budget that was adopted in November. The funding cut forced the center to end most of its transportation services for seniors this month.

They said they only learned of the changes, which included the town contracting with a third-party company called GoGoGrandparent to replace some of the transportation services offered by CSSC, after they read the Times Union’s reporting last week…
