Man charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting Bladen County deputy

BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The suspect arrested in connection with a February shooting that hospitalized a Bladen County deputy has been charged with attempted murder.

William Antonio Bright, 46, is accused of shooting a deputy on Feb. 20 after law enforcement received an anonymous report identifying “a known subject who has multiple warrants” seen in the area of the 600 block of Pine Acres Road in White Oak.

BCSO reported that during the arrest, there was a confrontation and struggle. An arrest warrant alleges Bright assaulted a deputy and tried to take his weapon. This resulted in shots being fired, and the deputy was hit in his vest. BCSO said deputies responded with gunfire and shot Bright…
