Woman pleads no contest to manslaughter charge in 2023 Lansing Twp. shootings

LANSING TWP., Mich. (WILX) – Lydia Nance, the woman accused of shooting and killing a teenager at her Lansing Township home in 2023, has pleaded no contest to manslaughter charges.

Nance, 37, was originally charged with four counts, including open murder and assault with intent to murder. Last week she pleaded no contest to an added charge of manslaughter with a 57-month minimum sentence agreement, according to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities say Nance shot two people — 17-year-old Brooke Lawson of Lansing and a 20-year-old woman from Sunfield — at her home on Dec. 21, 2023. Lawson was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries…
