After starting the week with red flag warnings and critical fire weather conditions, a substantial chance for widespread rain, storms and much cooler temperatures is in the forecast to end the week around West Texas and the Panhandle.
Starting Wednesday, a potent cool front will move through the Panhandle-South Plains region, dropping daytime highs from the 90s into the 70s and bringing a chance for rain starting Wednesday night into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Temperatures cool off for the last half of the week complete with widespread rain chances from Thursday night into Friday,” reads a statement from the Weather Service in Lubbock. “Heavy rain will be possible before drier air returns this weekend.”…
