Pet of the Week: Parsnip

EUGENE, Ore. – Our Pet of the Week, Parsnip, is a young Californian rabbit that’s very curious, energetic, and playful… not to mention ready to find their forever home!

Greenhill Humane Society staff said that Parsnip is one of six baby bunnies in their foster program and are about four months old. Parsnip would love to find a home with an adult rabbit that he could bond with or else go home paired up with one of their siblings. Given that rabbits get many of their social needs met by other rabbits, Parsnip would benefit going home with or to another bunny friend. The adoption fee includes a certificate for a free spay or neuter when they are old enough and also a free vet exam.

As indoor rabbits can live for 10 or more years, proper care is important with such considerations as daily exercise, grooming, a nutritious diet, and daily social interaction, Greenhill staff said. Rabbit-proofing in the home includes protecting wires, covering baseboards, removal of toxic plants, and providing safe toys and supervision when they’re out of their enclosure.

Parsnip was this week’s Pet of the Week on KEZI 9 News. Every week, KEZI showcases a homeless pet during the 6 p.m. broadcast. If you are interested in Parsnip or the other animals at Greenhill Humane Society, more information is available here…
