City warns of Neighborhood Code Compliance impersonators

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The City of Fort Wayne is warning residents that someone is pretending to be a code officer for the Neighborhood Code Compliance.

The city said on Wednesday that several reports of a person pretending to be a code officer prompted the warning. In a press release, there were many instances of an individual going door-to-door asking to enter a person’s home, claiming that they must conduct an interior inspection.

The city says that code officers will never be required to conduct interior inspections without prior notice to the resident. They warn that residents should not allow an individual claiming to be a code officer inside their home…
