2 Savannah residents sentenced on gun possession charges

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Southern District of Georgia announced Wednesday morning that two Chatham County men have been sentenced to federal prison in separate cases after pleading guilty to firearms possession.

The two individuals sentenced are:

  • Javell D. Wright, 35, of Savannah. Wright was sentenced to 63 months in prison after pleading guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

According to the Southern District of Georgia, Wright has a criminal history that includes multiple state convictions for illegal gun possession.

  • Amir Rashad Shaheed-Ali, 29, of Savannah. Shaheed-Ali was sentenced to 55 months in prison after pleading guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

This charge stems from a 2024 traffic stop during which Shaheed-Ali was found to be in possession of a pistol.

Both of the men were also ordered to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of their prison terms…
