Fight leads to shooting outside of Sam’s BBQ, affidavit says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A fight outside of Sam’s BBQ on Sunday led to the shooting that left six people injured, according to new details in a Travis County arrest affidavit.

Wesley Earl Brown, 24, was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being represented by an attorney, whom KXAN has reached out to.

According to the affidavit, Austin Police officers responded to a “shoot/stab hotshot call” at 8:26 p.m. at Sam’s BBQ located at 2000 East 12th Street. Multiple callers reported that shots were fired at the location and that someone was bleeding.

Witness statements revealed that a fight broke out between Brown and another person before he pulled out a gun from his waistband and began shooting towards Sam’s BBQ, the affidavit states. A video obtained by APD also showed Brown grabbing “an item” from his waistband, the affidavit reads. Moments later, the affidavit stated multiple shots were heard.

According to the affidavit, a family member called 911, saying that her nephew—Brown—was involved in a shooting. That call came in at 9:21 p.m. The affidavit states Brown’s family took him back to Sam’s BBQ, where he was detained without incident…
