20-year-old sentenced in 2023 mass shooting in North Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A 20-year-old man has been sentenced in a deadly North Omaha shooting that left a 16-year-old dead three years ago.

Javaris Hesseltine was sentenced in Douglas County Court on Tuesday in connection to the murder of Lamarantae Swift. Hesseltine received a sentence of 70-98 years in prison.

The sentencing comes after Hesseltine pleaded “no contest” to charges of manslaughter, first-degree assault, discharging a firearm, and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
