MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Myrtle Beach City Manager Fox Simons is facing backlash online after a City Council meeting on Tuesday, where beach wheelchairs and beach accessibility were discussed.
Luke Sharp, who is with the Adaptive Surf Project, went before the board to raise concerns about what he described as a serious issue: a lack of wheelchair accessibility directly on the beach. Sharp said Myrtle Beach is the only city along the Grand Strand that still does not have wheelchair accessibility directly on the beach.
After the meeting, a video was posted on Facebook showing Simons responding to Sharp and discussing insurance. The post included a caption criticizing Simons’ attitude and leadership.
