Public Adjuster Charged in $140K Insurance Payout Theft Case

A Bucks County public adjuster has been charged after prosecutors said a four-month investigation found that more than $140,000 in insurance claim payments were misappropriated from nine clients and contractors.

Investigators said the public adjusting firm represented homeowners in claims involving major insurers, including Allstate, Travelers, Progressive and State Farm. According to the complaint, claim checks were directed to the firm’s business address, but funds allegedly were not properly distributed to pay for repairs, reimbursements or contractor work.

The case involves several property claims, including storm damage, tree removal and flood repairs. Some homeowners allegedly had to pay tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket after insurance proceeds were not passed along.
