DWI Charge Filed in Crash that Left Man Critically Hurt

An 18-year-old Maryland man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after the car he was driving crashed on Charles Town Pike and left a passenger with critical injuries.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of April 26 near the Rt. 9/Harpers Ferry Road intersection west of Hillsboro. One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries described as life-threatening. In a fundraising page set up to help cover medical costs, an organizer said the victim “was involved in a devastating car accident that left him critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is now fighting hard on the road to recovery.”

Now, the Sheriff’s Office has charged Sean Thomas Ashley, 18, of Brunswick, MD, with DWI. Ashley has been released on bail…
