CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with reckless use of fire related to a large brush fire that burned out of control a month ago.
On March 30, more than 50 firefighters responded to the field fire on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids, near the 900 block of 44th Street. The fire burned for several hours and sprawled across 35 acres.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, David Mathison was at his home on 44th Street and reportedly told a deputy that he was burning some grass clippings when the fire spread to a nearby wooded area…
