Judge reinstates bond of former Mobile police officer charged in fatal wreck

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge on Thursday reinstated the bond of a former police officer charged in the death of a man during a traffic wreck in July 2024.

Law enforcement officers arrested Roy Lee Adams Jr. on April 17 after he got a speeding ticket in January. Mobile County prosecutors asked Mobile County Circuit Judge Michael Windom to revoke Adams’ bond on the homicide by vehicle charge. Prosecutors said they were most concerned that Adams falsely claimed to the state trooper who pulled him over that he was a Mobile police officer. He already had resigned his job at the time.
