TOLEDO, Ohio — The northbound ramp from the Anthony Wayne Trail to I-75 is closed after a semi overturned early Friday morning, causing significant traffic delays in the area.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. when a semi truck flipped on its side, spilling tomatoes that it was transporting on the roadway. WTOL 11 is on the scene and the semi could be seen blocking the far right three lanes of I-75 north, causing northbound traffic to be at a stand still.
An Ohio Department of Transportation official told WTOL 11 the semi struck a bridge abutment wall and a pole. The bridge abutment wall has been inspected and is confirmed safe, however the bridge above lost power and ODOT officials don’t know when it will be restored. The crash cleanup is expected to take several hours—affecting traffic throughout the morning and possibly through lunchtime, they said.
The semi driver could also be seen being transported to a hospital, although their condition is unknown at this time…
