CLARK COUNTY — A lawsuit filed in southern Indiana accuses the Scott County Sheriff’s Department of failing to properly supervise a deputy whose alleged harassment of a woman ended in a fatal incident inside her home.
The civil case, Hannah Miles v. Scott County Sheriff’s Department, was filed April 23 in Clark County Circuit Court. The complaint centers on claims of negligent supervision, alleging the department ignored warning signs and failed to intervene despite knowing the risks posed by the deputy.
According to the lawsuit, the deputy, who served about three years as a detective and deputy before his death on June 29, 2025, used department resources to intimidate and monitor the woman.
