AURORA, Colo. — A local ice cream shop owner turned a fourth-grade classroom into a science lab, using cream, sugar and rock salt to demonstrate the real-world chemistry behind a beloved frozen treat.
Joy Williams-Clark, chef and co-owner of Darlene’s Ice Cream in Aurora, visited Polton Elementary School alongside her husband, Kyle, to lead students through a hands-on lesson in food science – one that ended with every student eating the ice cream they made themselves.
